
The Equatorial Guinea international was transfer-listed by Pirates last month and is training with their development squad under the eye of Augusto Palacios.
According to a source at Eagles, the NFD outfit are serious about roping in Ovono's services in their bid for promotion.
"There has been contact. The figures have been discussed," says the source.
"The team is currently in Gauteng for their pre-season training and will be playing Pirates this afternoon.
"They hope to meet Pirates today to see if they can secure his clearance."
Ovono, who has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, has struggled for game-time since his arrival at Mayfair in March 2015.
Bucs recently signed former Mpumalanga Black Aces keeper Jackson Mabokgwane to challenge Brighton Mhlongo for the number one jersey.
