The 2013/14 PSL Footballer of the Season is seeking greener pastures elsewhere next season and has been the subject of firm interest from Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.
Wits have arranged a meeting with Vilakazi this week where he is expected to officially part ways, according to a source very close to the club.
“Vilakazi is definitely leaving Wits,” the source tells KickOff.com. “He will be meeting the club this week to finalise his departure.”
Sundowns are believed to be favourites to sign the player even though coach Pitso Mosimane told this website last week that he won’t pay the R10-million asking price.
However, The Brazilians could send Anthony Laffor and Cuthbert Malajila to Wits in exchange, or one of them plus cash, to secure ‘Vila’.
Wits are understood to want players in return if they are to part ways with Vilakazi, and reportedly want George Lebese and Bernard Parker from Amakhosi.
Pirates are also still lurking in the background, while a European move is also on the cards provided he can find a suitor.
