Two more Buccaneers off

accreditation

Following last week’s departure of Thulani Lukhele and Thulani Maseko to Welkom-based African Warriors, Luntu Mazana, who joined Bucs from relegated Maritzburg United last year, and Pirates’ development academy graduate Clifford Maphutha are the latest to leave on loan spells at the weekend.

According to a report on Pirates’ website, both players will be joining sides that are candidates to gain promotion into the Premiership next season.

Mazana is off to second-placed First Division Coastal Stream side Bay United. United trail leaders Maritzburg United by six points.

The young Maphutha is heading to Tshwane to join Garankuwa United who are third in the Inland Stream and 11 points behind pace-setters FC AK.

The departure of the latest pair takes to five the number of players loaned out in the past week alone. This includes Edward Malinga who has joined Black Leopards.

Administrative executive Floyd Mbele confirmed a few more deals are at an advanced stage as management continues placing players as per head coach Owen da Gama’s recommendation.

Da Gama has submitted a list to management recommending that certain players be loaned out to get some game time as well as allow him to work with a more manageable squad.

Da Gama has set himself the target of playing in the CAF Champions League next year and to achieve that, Bucs must finish at least runners up in the current Absa Premiership campaign.
