Although it was known the Red Devils would return to South Africa this year after their successful tour in 2006, they confirmed on Thursday that they would play Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in the week of July 19 to 26, though firm match dates and venues have not been set.
And the good news for local fans this time round is that they are likely to see the likes of Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves, who will have had the summer off after England failed to qualify for Euro 2008.
"We really enjoyed our visit in 2006," manager Alex Ferguson said. "The atmosphere in the stadium and the enthusiasm from the fans helped make for a great event. All the facilities were first class and I am looking forward to returning."
United lost on penalties to Kaizer Chiefs in the Final of the 2006 Vodacom Challenge.
