Walters tells of Bafana disappointment

Walters was among the local players selected by coach Joel Santana for the international friendly against Malawi at Germiston Stadium tomorrow.

Speaking to snl24.com/kickoff, the Cape Town-born goalkeeper said he is heart broken about missing his first camp with Bafana, but respects Celtic’s decision to withdraw him from the squad.

“I was excited but also nervous when I received the news that I was selected. This is a great honour for me, so I was very disappointed when I was told later that I had been withdrawn from the team.

“On the other hand, I am pleased that the Bafana selectors have seen something good about me and I hope to get another chance soon.”

Santana has called up SuperSport United striker Katlego Mashego to replace Phunya Sele Sele striker Petrus Mahlatse, who was also withdrawn from Bafana due to club commitments.

Celtic are set to fly to Cape Town on Wednesday to face Ajax Cape Town in their Absa Premiership fixture set for Athlone Stadium.
