Usuthu PRO Philani Mabaso confirmed the bad news, saying doctors have already ruled the player out of action for the remainder of the season.

“Initially we did not think Momikia’s injury was all that serious and that it would only take a few weeks to heal. However, after the player went for a second scan last week we were told that the injury was serious.”

Mabaso also disclosed that striker Mpho Maleka has also been ruled out of action for six weeks after suffering a head injury during the League game against Jomo Cosmos in Tembisa on October 31.

The Usuthu official dismissed reports that Lovers Mohlala has been suspended for disciplinary reasons.

“According to the technical team’s report, Lovers is nursing an injury, however we read in the newspapers that he has been suspended. It is not true.”

Mohlala also expressed his disappointment about the suspension reports.

“You can see that the story is not true. I have been carrying an ankle injury for a while now, but have started again light training.”
