Faz also disclosed that Konkola Blades striker Felix Sunzu is still being awaited to join the Chipolopolo Boys in Kumasi. The player had sneaked out of the country to attend trials in Tunisia just prior to his call-up.
Sunzu replaced Turkey-based striker Collins Mbesuma who was declared medically unfit to travel for the continent’s biggest soccer bonanza.
Acting general secretary Fidelis Banda said that Simutowe, Shambulo and Under-23 trainer Peter Kaumba will play the role of scouts, monitoring Zambia’s opponents and providing technical tips.
“You need these guys to watch other matches on behalf of the coach,” he said.
Banda said the trio was expected to boost coach Patrick Phiri’s technical department, which also has Fighton Simukonda as deputy.
