The former Juventus and Real Madrid midfielder has confirmed that he will be present at the 2008 Golden Foot Awards, the international career award given to players who have excelled both on and off the field of play.
Zidane has been one of the most respected stars in football history because of his extraordinary technical skill that allowed him to become a world champion at France 98, where he scored twice in the Final against Brazil, and a European champion in 2000.
His also won the Uefa Champions League with Real Madrid in 2002, again scoring a remarkable goal in the Final against Bayer Leverkusen.
As the best player in the world in 1998, he was awarded the Ballon d'Or and the Fifa World Player title in 1998, 2000 and 2003.
Others to have won the Golden Foot award include Roberto Baggio (2003), Pavel Nedved (2004), Andriy Shevchenko (2005), Ronaldo (2006) and Alessandro Del Piero (2007).
Zidane will also be the patron of the ELA (European Leucodystrophies Association), the charity project that will be funded by the Golden Foot event through the traditional charity auction that will be held during the gala dinner on September 1, the 2008 Golden Foot prize giving day.
