The setback occurred at training three weeks ago while Abafana Bes’thende were preparing for their clash against BidVest Wits.
Arrows’ coach Manqoba Mngqithi put on a brave face when asked about the extent of Zothwane’s injury.
“It’s not that serious and I hope he can start light training soon,” Mngqithi told snl24.com/kickoff after their clash with Bloemfontein Celtic at the weekend.
Zothwane’s injury comes after the Bafana Bafana midfielder had to endure months of frustration nursing another knee injury.
On his return, Zothwane showed flashes of brilliance and earned a recall to the national team. His teammate, Bheka Phakathi, who has just recovered from a similar injury, is hopeful Zothwane could be back soon.
“I know how he must be feeling after undergoing that period of frustration. I have just recovered and know how bad it is, but the doctors still have to give their opinion. I hope Papi will be strong enough to overcome this,” said Phakathi.
