There were calls for Pitso Mosimane's departure after the defeat to Wydad Casablanca in last month's final, while they have not been convincing in the Egyptian Premier League.

Certain former players have also voiced their concern about the team under Mosimane, but El-Khatib urged everyone to get behind the team for the rest of the season.

"We should provide support to our team and their coaching staff. We have to learn from what happened.

"Some people are not happy with our club’s success. We need your support as there are many challenges ahead of us.”

El-Khatib held a press conference on Saturday to address the controversy surrounding the hosting of the CAF Champions League final, which took place at the home of Wydad.
