The White Knight have been engaged with forward Achraf Bencharki about extending his stay as his current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

There were reports linking Bencharki with a move to their arch-rivals Al Ahly, but the club's head of transfers Amir Tawfik has played down those rumours.

“Bencharki is a very good player, but we didn’t start negotiations with him,” Tawfik told ONTime Sport TV.

“We will see the needs of Al Ahly’s technical staff in the new season and study them well.

“The priority is always what the technical staff want, and everyone has something to say,” he concluded.

Bencharki played a vital role in Zamalek's Egyptian Premier League success last season, but has started the new campaign with three goals in his first nine matches.
