Dennis Lavagne: CS Constantine manager responds to Guinea head coach links

Lavagne, 55, had a brief stint in the Absa Premiership before restoring his reputation in the Algeria Ligue 1 with SC Constantine, where he's currently still employed.

The former Cameroon head coach was confirmed as one of 17 managerial candidates shortlisted by the Guinea Football Federation (Feguifoot) this week, alongside former Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri.

But the Frenchman has quickly poured cold water over the links with the job.

"They [Feguifoot] called me but I rejected the talks immediately as I am currently contracted to Constantine," he told KickOff. "The documents released is fake news as far as I'm concerned.

"I'm not part of the shortlisted candidates along with [Claudio] Ranieri, that I can confirm with you. But if anything else happens, I will state this myself."

The National Elephants will be hoping to hire their new coach before the group stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers commences later this year.
