Manchester City legend Yaya Toure is now reportedly working in the ranks of a surprise national team.

In August, the Ivory Coast icon landed a new coaching gig with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, taking up a post with the club's U16 team.

It is the 39-year-old's first role since parting ways with Russian Premier League outfit Akhmat Grozny in December 2021, where he was the assistant manager.

Toure is believed to fulfilling this role as he is still in the process of completing his UEFA coaching badges.

According to the Daily Mail, the African icon is now also involved in the England U21 set-up ahead of their friendly matches against Italy and Germany.

Toure has travelled to the English FA's national football centre at St George's Park in Burton to work with Lee Carsley's staff, where he will shadow the coaching team as he works towards the completion of his badges.

Former City star Joleon Lescott is also part of the staff and his presence has reportedly benefited the players tremendously.

It is likely Toure will have a similar effect on a number of midfield stars such as Conor Gallagher, Morgan Gibbs-White, James Garner and Jacob Ramsey, with the Ivorian having played for a number of teams at the highest level, including the Citizens and FC Barcelona.
