Independiente de Campo Grande star Brendix Parra has seen his contract canceled by his club in truly bizarre circumstances after they suffered an embarrassing Copa Sudamericana exit.

The Colombian team qualified on penalties against the Paraguay second-tier club and the latter's president Eriberto Gamarra explained the reason behind the board's decision to part ways with the player.

This after Novoa stopped the audacious attempt with his chest as the ball hardly gained any flight to beat the goalkeeper and they went on to lose 4-3 in the shoot-out.

"The board of directors decided to dismiss Brendix Parra for the way he kicked the penalty," he told ABC Cardinal.

"If we had qualified to the next round each player would have earned a bit of money.

On the bizarre turn of events that will now see him move on from the club Parra said: "It's a difficult situation, but life goes on,"
