A Premier League star has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah are up to the "same standards", adding that there is one thing that sets them apart.

Egyptian superstar Salah has had a prolific season so far – he tops the Premier League goalscoring chart with 10 strikes, and is joint-first with Manchester United's Paul Pogba for assists provided with seven.

The forward's incredible form in recent years has seen him earn many plaudits from pundits and players alike, among them Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota, who has now likened the African superstar to his Portuguese compatriot Ronaldo.

Jota was recently asked about the two Premier League stars he shares the pitch with for club and country, and while the former Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker believes both players are world-class, the one difference between them, for now, is that the Manchester United talisman "has been doing it for a very long time".

"He [Salah] is a great player, world-class," the 24-year-old told Sky Sports.

"He is showing his technique to the world this season. He is scoring goals for fun.

"Great goals, individual goals, and for us this is helpful because we have someone on the field who can decide the game, and for the opponents, they know they need to be careful and we can then take the spaces that they leave because they are too worried about him.

"I had that first feeling when I played for the national team with Ronaldo and I think I can put him [Salah] up there to the same standards, although Ronaldo has been doing it for a very long time.

"When they are on the field, they are dangerous and can score at any time. And for me, that is very useful as I can watch and learn from them."
