Arsenal have reportedly compiled a shortlist of seven targets as Mikel Arteta aims to strengthen his squad in this transfer window.

Ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, the Gunners splashed the cash on six new signings, spending more money than any other club in Europe.

However, it appears there could be some more new faces entering the Emirates soon, with the Daily Mirror reporting that the London club has identified seven stars to target this month.

With Thomas Partey playing for Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations, Ainsley Maitland-Niles having gone to AS Roma on loan and Granit Xhaka's recent red card, Arteta has seemingly found himself with a midfield crisis, and the club is reportedly searching for a quick solution.

Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo is one of the players seemingly being looked at, with Arsenal being linked with the Brazilian after reportedly making contact with the Serie A giants to discuss a potential loan move.

Paris Saint-Germain star Georginio Wijnaldum is also believed to be under consideration after reports emerged that he is unhappy with his lack of first-team action in France, while Leicester City's Youri Tielemans is also among the names being mentioned at the Emirates, with the Belgian having only 18 months left on his contract at the King Power Stadium.
