Cristiano Ronaldo will reportedly leave Manchester United if the club fails to meet a certain condition.

With things looking bleak at United due to their underwhelming form, which sees them lying seventh on the Premier League table, and reports of tension within the dressing room, things could get worse for the club as it has now been suggested that Ronaldo could leave at the end of the season.

The Red Devils are already under their second manager of the 2021/22 campaign in Ralf Rangnick, but their fortunes have not exactly been a direct contrast to previous boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tenure as the side remains in the firing line of much criticism, even from within – with Ronaldo being one of the latest to speak of their woes.

Last week, the Portugal captain insisted he is not competing to be "in sixth place, or seventh place, or fifth place" with the club, and also claimed that the team's mentality was not in the right place.

The Sun has now reported that the 36-year-old will leave United at the end of this campaign if they fail to qualify for next season's edition of the UEFA Champions League.

It is said that the continental tournament is a major priority for Ronaldo, and it is further claimed that his representatives recently held a meeting with incoming chief executive Richard Arnold, who will replace Ed Woodward at the start of February, to discuss concerns about the direction the club is heading in.

While Ronaldo has contributed with 14 goals in just 21 games since his return to Old Trafford, the Red Devils have won just three of their past seven games across all competitions, and are 24 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.
