Chelsea scraped to a 1-0 win over the new boys Brentford to regain top spot in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
A first-team debut for Malang Sarr headlined the Blues line-up, with Danish international Andreas Christensen also included whilst Antonio Rudiger missed out.
Brentford scared the European champions in the middle of the first half when a left-footed shot from Bryan Mbeumo following a knockdown by Christian Norgaard cannoned the woodwork.
Meanwhile, the Blues had a goal disallowed through a smart flick on from six-yards out by Romelu Lukaku following a ball in by strike-partner and German international Timo Werner.
Werner was given a clear chance to make the opener minutes to the break from a cutback on the cusp of the area by Christensen, but the forward was unable to find the target.
Thomas Tuchel’s charges continued to apply pressure and were rewarded a minute to halftime as Ben Chilwell got onto a loose ball outside the area to rattle the top-corner in sumptuous fashion.

Brentford started to worry the Blues shortly into the restart after a ball in sight of target landed Ivan Toney the perfect chance to draw level, but hesitation play from him messed it up.
Toney’s presence showed again in the closing stages when his volley from a throw-in saw Edouard Mendy palm away, whilst Mbeumo hit the post again through a snap-shot.
Brentford continued to knock before time, with Mendy reduced to a point-blank save before Trevor Chalobah cleared a loose shot off the line whilst Lukaku made way for Kai Havertz.
Chelsea hanged on for dear life as Brentford peppered Mendy who smothered Pontus Jansson and an overhead kick from Norgaard to confirm victory and top spot again.
