Chelsea boss Graham Potter is reportedly set to make his first big transfer decision at his new club.

The English manager was brought in to replace Thomas Tuchel just days after the latest transfer window closed.

Prior to the former Brighton & Hove Albion tactician's arrival at Stamford Bridge, the Blues spent €281.99 million (R4.8 billion) on a number of new signings for the previous manager, leaving Potter in a position where he will have to work with players he would not have necessarily wanted to sign.

It appears the English head coach is now ready to make his mark on the squad he inherited, however.

According to German news outlet BILD, Potter is considering recalling Callum Hudson-Odoi from his loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen as he and club co-owner Todd Boehly are big fans of the winger.

It is claimed there is a clause in Odoi's loan deal that allows him to be recalled before the end of the 2022/23 season.

Despite failing to get on the scoresheet with the Bundesliga club so far in this campaign, the forward has impressed with his new club and helped Gerardo Seoane's team secure a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League earlier this month.

Hudson-Odoi is understood to have demanded an exit from Chelsea in the most recent transfer window after becoming frustrated with a lack of first-team action under Tuchel, who gave him only 11 starts last season.

In a recent interview, the 21-year-old revealed that Boehly assured him that his future still lies at Stamford Bridge ahead of his temporary switch to the Bundesliga.

"When a club is trying to get a player on loan, they always want that option to buy at the end of the season," Hudson-Odoi said, per the Daily Mail.

"Todd was saying: 'Listen, we want you back here. You're still on the radar of being wanted by the club.'"
