Jugen Klopp: Why Liverpool manager rejected Manchester United and Real Madrid

accreditation

The Reds manager completed four years in charge of the Merseyside club earlier in October after joining them from Borussia Dortmund.

But in an interview with The Mirror, Fowler revealed that the eccentric German could have been on the touchline of their Premier League rivals or possibly the 13-time Euoropean champions.

"I did an interview with Klopp a couple of years ago," Fowler said.

"He told me he rejected a couple of very rich clubs, one of them Manchester United, and the other probably Real Madrid, because he didn't like how they focussed solely on business interests.

"He said he liked Liverpool because they had a balance between the money needed to reach the top and the history and identity of the club and their fans."

Klopp won two Bundesliga titles along with the DFB-Pokal at Dortmund and added the the Champions League trophy with Liverpool.
