Brentford took a large step forward in their quest to play top-flight football for the first time in more than 70 years next season after beating Swansea City in their playoff semi-final on Wednesday evening.

Thomas Frank's side overcame a 1-0 deficit from the first leg to claim a 3-2 aggregate win over the Swans, and will now face the winner of Thursday's semi-final between Cardiff City and Fulham in the final at Wembley, which is scheduled for next week Tuesday.

Mokotjo, who has not featured in a matchday squad for the Bees since 30 June, played no part in either leg of the clash against Swansea, and his long-term future at the club remains in doubt.

The 29-year-old signed a new short-term contract last month that extended his stay with Brentford until the end of the season, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will be offered a new deal despite being highly regarded by Frank.
