Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne boosted his hopes of winning the Premier League Player of the Season award after equalling a longstanding record belonging to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry on the weekend.

On Sunday evening, De Bruyne was the star of the show as Pep Guardiola's side brought their 2019/20 Premier League campaign to an end with a resounding 5-0 win over recently relegated Norwich City.

The Belgium international scored City's second and fifth goals on the night, taking his tally to a career-best 13 strikes for the season, but it was his assist for Raheem Sterling's goal that made headlines across England.

De Bruyne's involvement in the England star's strike was his 20th league assist for the season, and saw him equal Arsenal legend Henry's 17-year-old record for the most assists in a single Premier League campaign.

The 29-year-old's tally was also enough to earn him a second Premier League Playmaker of the Season award, beating off competition from Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, who recorded 13 assists for the newly crowned champions.

De Bruyne was recently beaten to the FWA Footballer of the Year award by Reds captain Jordan Henderson, but is believed to be one of the favourites to lift this year's Premier League Player of the Season award.
