Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted to his side's 5-0 humbling by Liverpool on the weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Red Devils continued their stuttering form in the Premier League as they suffered another defeat, this time against Jurgen Klopp's Reds on Sunday.

Liverpool took a commanding 4-0 leading into the break, before an early second-half goal gave them an even bigger lead.

With United already 5-0 down, Ronaldo thought he had scored a consolation goal but the strike was chalked off for offside, much to the Portuguese forward's frustration.

Ronaldo's ire during the match was evident when he lost his cool in a battle with Reds midfielder Curtis Jones, fouling him before kicking at the ball that was under him as he lay on the ground, with the ex-Real Madrid attacker being given a yellow card for his actions.

Following this result, the Manchester club is now winless in four EPL games, and could be out of the title race if their underwhelming form continues.

After the match, Ronaldo took to social media to give his take on the Red Devils' latest defeat.

"Sometimes the result is not the one we fight for," the 36-year-old wrote on Instagram.

"Sometimes the score is not the one we want. And this is on us, only on us, because there's no one else to blame.

"Our fans were, once again, amazing in their constant support.

"They deserve better than this, much better, and it's up to us to deliver. The time is now!"
