Manchester United are reportedly interested in the former Liverpool transfer guru responsible for signing a number of top stars for the Reds, including Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson.

Departing sporting director Michael Edwards (to the left in the picture above) has been credited with being an integral part of Jurgen Klopp's success at Anfield, having played a huge role in many important signings, while he was also key in raising extra funds through his knack of getting other teams to pay over the odds for fringe players.

Edwards is now set to leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of this month, and he will be replaced by deputy sporting director Julian Ward.

Since the 43-year-old announced that he was departing the Merseysiders at the end of the 2021/22 season, a number of Europe's biggest clubs have reportedly shown interest in his services, including Newcastle United, Ajax Amsterdam, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the Daily Mail, the latest, perhaps surprise, team looking into offering him a new job are the Red Devils, who are in the midst of a revamp of their transfer team.

While an addition to the Manchester club's recruitment team is not imminent, there is a feeling at United that they are open to delving into the footballing landscape for improvements after Matt Judge and Ed Woodward left their respective positions on the transfer committee.

It is claimed Brentford director of recruitment Lee Dykes and Middlesbrough's head of football Kieron Scott are also being earmarked by United football director John Murtough.

Chelsea are also reportedly interested in securing Edwards' services after recently remodelling their transfer team, with the director Marina Granovskaia recently being shown the exit door.

Here are every Premier League club's most expensive signing ever, according to several sources!
