With Cristiano Ronaldo understood to be looking to leave Manchester United, the Premier League giants have reportedly set their sights on a new forward.

The Portuguese attacker is said to be on the verge of an exit from the Red Devils following their dismal 2021/22 campaign, which saw them finish outside of the UEFA Champions League qualification spots.

Recent reports have suggested that United are open to selling the 37-year-old, but to clubs in other leagues only, amid suggestions that Chelsea have been in talks with his agent Jorge Mendes.

It has been claimed Bayern Munich and Napoli are also keeping tabs on his situation, while the striker is also said to be open to the idea of joining up with Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was expected at pre-season training on Monday and Tuesday this week, but did not show up due to "family reasons".

As such, his future remains a mystery, but it appears United may have already identified his replacement.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Erik Ten Hag's side have shown interest in Ronaldo's former Juventus colleague Paulo Dybala, but will wait for the Portugal captain's future to be resolved before making a move.

The Dutch manager is believed to be a fan of the Argentine, and could request to bring him to Old Trafford.

Many expected Dybala, currently a free agent, to join Juve's Serie A rivals Inter Milan after he left the Turin club at the end of June, but it is believed the Nerazzurri are still in the process of freeing up their wage bill, opening the door for other teams to potentially swoop in for the player.
