This could prove a major stumbling block in the Manchester side's pursuit of a successor for interim boss Ralf Rangnick ahead of next season, with the club having reportedly stepped up their search for a new permanent manager this week.

With Ronaldo only signing a two-year deal when he rejoined United in the previous transfer window, he could be one of the stars who makes an exit from Old Trafford in the near future, especially considering recent reports that he has a potential desire to return to Real Madrid.
