Mohamed Salah paid tribute to Al Ahly midfielder Moamen Zakaria after scoring the winning goal for Liverpool in the 4-3 Premier League thriller against Leeds United.

Salah bagged a sensational hat-trick on the opening day of the season at Anfield and cupped his ears with the late goal that broke the hearts of the newly-promoted side in the dying minutes.

While many believed it was directed at Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes who's often used the celebration since his arrival in England - it was actually a message of support to his compatriot.

Zakaria, 32, was forced to end his career last week after being diagnosed with the incurable Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) which affects the brain and spinal cord.

In the week he was honoured by the club of the Century and fierce rivals Zamalek, while several players used his trademark celebration when scoring recently, which Salah continued on the world stage.
