Brighton & Hove Albion boss Graham Potter has confirmed that he is interested in recalling Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau from his loan at Anderlecht.

Tau has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons on loan in Belgium after failing to secure a work permit in England following his 2018 move to Brighton from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Bafana Bafana star does not currently meet the requirements to secure the necessary permit but Brighton are hoping to obtain a Governing Body Endorsement in the new year under the revised points system that is expected to be introduced following Britain's exit from the European Union.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against West Ham United, Seagulls boss Potter confirmed that the club is considering recalling the forward from his latest stint in Belgium if such an endorsement is granted.

"It's fair to say it's something we're looking to do, but there's a few things to go through first," Potter confirmed during a press conference on Wednesday, per Sky Sports.

"He brings some attributes that are interesting, he has had good experience in Belgium. He brings something a little different to what we have got and he wants to take the next step in his career - we want to help him do that."

Tau has made 13 appearances for Anderlecht this season and spent the previous two campaigns on loan with Club Brugge, where he won the 2019/20 Jupiler Pro League crown, and Union SG, where he was named as the second division's Player of the Season in the year before.
