VAR company apologises for error in EPL clash

Dele Alli got the equaliser as Spurs drew 1-1 with struggling Watford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.

However, there was confusion in the stadium after VAR correctly awarded the goal but the big screen indicated that the goal was disallowed.

Hawk-Eye Innovations, who supply the VAR technology, have apologised to both sets of supporters for the confusion.

"Hawk-Eye apologises to Spurs and Watford fans for the confusion caused," the company said, as per BBC Sport.

"We are working together with the Professional Game Match Officials Board [the body responsible for professional match officials in England] and the Premier League to understand the root cause of this problem and propose a series of measures to ensure it won't happen again."
