Real Madrid star Karim Benzema once again made history after equalling a longstanding UEFA Champions League record held by Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday night.

Los Blancos completed a thrilling 3-1 comeback victory over Manchester City to secure a 6-5 win on aggregate and launch themselves into the UCL final against Liverpool, with substitute Rodrygo scoring a dramatic two-minute brace in injury time before Benzema delivered the final blow five minutes into extra-time.

The French forward's match-winning strike ensured that he has once again etched his name into the record books.

According to Opta Sports, Benzema has now scored 10 goals in the UCL knockout stages this season, the joint-most by any player in a single campaign along with his former Los Blancos teammate Ronaldo, who achieved this feat in the 2016/17 season with Real.
