Kylian Mbappe makes Real Madrid declaration

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has made a big declaration amid rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid in the January transfer window.

After months of speculation, Mbappe, whose PSG contract is set to expire in June 2022, has finally given a clear indication regarding where he will play his football for the remainder of the 2021/22 season.

Real are understood to have made two big bids for the Frenchman in the previous window, but both were rejected as Les Parisiens sporting director Leonardo refused to sell Mbappe for a fee lower than the reported £166 million (R3.5 billion) they paid to sign him from Monaco in 2018.

Asked recently if he will be joining Los Blancos next month, the 23-year-old told CNN: "No, I'm not joining Real Madrid in January. In January, it's not happening.

"I'm with Paris Saint-Germain, I'm really happy and I will 100% finish the season as a PSG player.

"I'll give everything to win with Paris all titles this year."

The 2018 FIFA World Cup champion was, however, reluctant to state outright whether or not he would eventually join the Spanish giants at the end of the season, dismissing the question by saying now is "really not the time" to discuss that.

The Les Parisiens star did, however, fire a warning at Carlo Ancelotti's men, who are PSG's opponents in the UEFA Champions League's round of 16 stage.

"The only thing on my mind is to beat Real Madrid in Champions League," Mbappe continued.

"We are ready and I am ready to play and give everything for PSG."
