LaLiga match report Real Madrid v Sevilla 28 November 2021

The host introduced only a single change from last week’s win in LaLiga against Granada, as Eder Militao dropped into the line-up ahead of Nacho Hernandez.

Real were shocked 12 minutes in after a corner-kick spotted an unmarked Rafa Mir to beat Thibaut Courtois with a powerful header that flew into the far corner.

It could’ve been two within minutes as a loose pass saw Rafa Mir took control to see his low shot from an acute angle cleared off the line with the follow-up covered effectively.

Madrid weren’t bothered by the visitors ascendancy, and inside the midway stage saw Vinicius Junior drill in a snap shot from a loose ball off a corner in pursuit of the equaliser.

Sevilla still carved out another chance towards the halftime period with Lucas Ocampos’s rasping shot from point-blank range hitting the frame of the post.

The host levelled moments from the half-hour mark as a strike outside the box from Militao proved difficult for Yassine Bounou and Karim Benzema was on hand to tap in the rebound.

Los Blancos were different and recharged as the second half resumed and led Papu Gomez to cut in from the left-hand channel to work Courtois into a save.

With time moving by, Los Blancos threw on fresh faces in Eduardo Camavinga for Luka Modric and then removed Marco Asensio for Federico Valverde.

Madrid enjoyed most of the ball in the last three minutes and made it count when Vinicius dropped a shoulder out wide, drifted in-field to find the top corner.

Sevilla could’ve been level from a free-kick into the area seconds to full-time, but Courtois produced a superb save to lead his side to victory and top spot.
