Both the Daily Mail and Mundo Deportivo have reported the the Blaugrana have made a move for Netherlands international Frenkie de Jong with just a few weeks left in the transfer window.

The Dutch midfielder has failed to the heights at Camp Nou since joining the club from Ajax Amsterdam in 2019 and the emergence of Pedri and Gavi has not certainly helped his case.

The reports go on to suggest that selling De Jong would help Barcelona's financial crisis, although the club won't sell the midfielder for less than €60million.

The player's father recently revealed that there were five European teams who contacted the Catalan outfit to enquire about De Jong.

"It's often bad weather there. Of course, it's about football, but it does matter," De Jong Sr said to Dutch publication Algemeen Dagblad.

"Of course, I know that Barcelona needs money and a great offer for Frenkie could help, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

"Although, the five top European clubs have all called."
