A certain Paris Saint-Germain star is reportedly eager to leave the Ligue 1 champions and would be keen on a move to Manchester United.

Mauro Icardi has been deemed surplus to requirement this season, with the French giants aiming to cash in on his services before the transfer window closes.

The 29-year-old Argentine is the latest striker to be linked with a move to Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag eager to bolster his attack after a slow start to the season.

Argentine publication TyC Sports report that the former Inter Milan star is open to joining the Red Devils on a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent.

Icardi has made 92 appearances for the Paris outfit since 2019, while registering 38 goals and 10 assists in the process.

The United manager, meanwhile, stressed the need for the club to improve the squad after Saturday's loss to Brentford.

"It is clear we need players but I don't want to think about that in this moment. The good players we had should have been better," Ten Hag told Sky Sports.

"I hoped for a better start, but still I have to believe because I have seen good things but the two games from now are disappointing."
