After Manchester United mutually terminated Cristiano Ronaldo's contract earlier this week, manager Erik ten Hag reportedly wants another player to follow the Portugal star out the exit door in January.

The Ronaldo saga was brought to an end on Tuesday when his contract at Old Trafford was terminated by mutual consent after relations between the player, the manager and the club turned sour following the 37-year-old's explosive tell-all interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan last week.

United are already believed to be looking for a replacement, with the likes of Cody Gakpo of Netherlands, Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, and English centre-forward Ivan Toney being some of the names who have been linked with the club.

While Ten Hag will likely be relieved to see the back of Ronaldo given the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's admission that he has no respect for the former Ajax Amsterdam boss, the 52-year-old now reportedly wants a defender to depart next.

According to The Telegraph, right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been identified as the next player unwanted by the tactician, who has already been given the green light to move the Englishman on in January.

With the former Crystal Palace star deemed surplus to requirements, it is understood that United want to sign a replacement immediately should they get him off their books successfully at the turn of the year.

Ten Hag reportedly wants the 24-year-old's replacement at the Theatre of Dreams to provide competition for first-choice right-back Diogo Dalot.

At the beginning of this month, it was claimed that United were weighing up the possibility of recruiting Norwich City and England U21 star Max Aarons, but no negotiations are thought to have taken place.

Since Ten Hag arrived at Old Trafford ahead of this season, Wan-Bissaka has played only four minutes of football, ranking him last in the squad in terms of minutes for players who have been used in this campaign.
