Manchester United have reportedly made a big decision regarding an €80 million (R1.4 billion) striker amid their search for a permanent replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Red Devils have been widely linked with a striker ever since the Portuguese forward's abrupt departure in November.

While United have signed Netherlands international Wout Weghorst on a six-month loan deal from Burnley, the club is reportedly still looking for a long-term solution for the position.

Anthony Martial appears to be Ten Hag's preferred first choice for the striker spot, but the Frenchman has suffered a number of injuries this season, and is considered by some to be an unreliable option as a result.

Some of the forwards rumoured to be on the club's shortlist included Harry Kane, Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen, with the latest to be linked being Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic.

According to Express Sport, however, the latter will not be making the switch to Old Trafford this January, with United said to have decided to pull the plug on that pursuit.

With the Glazers making the decision to put the club up for sale, funds are also believed to be non-existent for any further potential purposes.

Vlahovic currently has a market value of €80 million (R1.4 billion), although the price tag Juventus have placed on the Serbian attacker remains unconfirmed.

The British outlet further claimed that while United insist their business in this window is now done, a potential new winger should not be ruled out just yet.
