After several attempts to get the youngster to sign a new contract at the Camp Nou, Barca were unable to reach an agreement with the player, and the club has now decided to cash in on the highly-rated youngster.

Moriba, who is understood to have completed a medical in Germany on Monday after being granted permission by the Blaugrana, was linked with several clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City, before opting for a move to the Bundesliga.

"FC Barcelona and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Ilaix Moriba for 16 million euros plus 6 million euros in variables. Furthermore, the Club reserves the right to 10% of any future sale of the player," a statement from the Blaugrana read.

"FC Barcelona would like to publicly thank Ilaix Moriba for his commitment and dedication and wishes him all the best for the future."
