Paris Saint-Germain to make huge Lionell Messi decision?

It has been claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are ready to make a big decision about Lionel Messi's future at the club.

The French giants have recently been linked with a number of outgoings, with a major reshuffle expected to take place under the new transfer management team headed up by Luis Campos and Antero Henrique, with a new head coach, Christophe Gaultier, expected to be announced soon too.

Despite Neymar's entourage publicly claiming that they have received no communication from the club regarding a potential departure, the Brazil star continues to be linked with an exit from the Parc des Princes, with reports suggesting that PSG want to bring their club-record signing's chapter at the club to a close.

According to Spanish journalist Pedro Morata, not only have Campos and Henrique decided to sell the Brazilian if possible, but they are happy for Messi to be sold too.

It is further claimed the club is looking to build a new team with fewer superstars in the hope that they will be a more competitive side in Europe.

This comes just months after PSG suffered a relatively early exit from the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League despite having a star-studded squad with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and Messi leading the line.

It is believed their newest signing from FC Porto, Vitinha, is the start of a process of bolstering the squad, while Serie A duo Milan Skriniar and Gianluca Scamacca are reportedly also being pursued by the reigning Ligue 1 champions.

Morata did add, though, that, while it is believed Messi and Neymar are open to the idea of leaving France in this window, Les Parisiens could find it hard to find buyers for the superstar duo as not many teams could afford their lofty wages.

The Argentine has stated recently, however, that it is his intention to see out his deal at the Parc des Princes, so it remains to be seen if he is still at the French club when the 2022/23 campaign kicks off.
