Ronaldo was visibily angered by Mauriziio Sarri's decision to substitute him in the 55th minute of Bianconeri's win on Sunday and was seen storming straight down the tunnel.

Reports later emerged that the Portugal star didn't bother hanging around for the match to end and instead left the stadium early, actions which could now land him in hot water with Italian authorities.

Following the match, former AS Roma star Antonio Cassano shared that he had once left the stadium early during a clash against Lazio and was told to return or face a two-year ban, and revealed that Ronaldo could face similar punishment.

"Did he leave before the end of the game?" Cassano asked, as per AS.

"You can't do that because there is an anti-doping control. I had to go back to the stadium urgently to avoid a two-year ban."

The former Real Madrid star has since broken his silence and seemed to downplay the situation with his latest Instagram post.

"Difficult game, important victory," read Ronaldo's post.
