France international Paul Pogba has now reportedly revealed some chilling details about the extortion threats levelled against him by a group of men, including one of his brothers, earlier this year.

It emerged last month that the Juventus star was the target of an organised criminal gang who sought £11 million (R222 million) from him for "protection services".

It was soon established that the midfielder's brother Mathias was one of the alleged perpetrators, who are also understood to include some of the player's childhood friends.

In July, Pogba filed a complaint against the suspected gang, who are believed to have begun terrorising the 29-year-old since the international break back in March.

Mathias and five other suspects have reportedly been detained in connection with the crimes, although it is yet to be established whether or not Pogba's sibling was among the masked gunmen who took Paul to an apartment and threatened him at gunpoint.

"I was scared. The two guys pointed their guns at me," the former Manchester United star told police, according to French outlet Le Monde.

"Suddenly, being pointed like this under threat, I told them that I was going to pay.

"They were shouting: 'Shut up, look down'.

"When the hooded guys leave, I was told that I had to pay them, otherwise we were all in danger."

Mathias' lawyer Yassine Bouzrou has denied the accusations levelled at his client, who has been charged on several counts, including extortion in a criminal gang and participation in a criminal syndicate with the view to prepare crime.

"We contest this decision and everything will be done to ensure that Mr. Pogba is released quickly."
