Jose Mourinho's AS Roma are reportedly in talks with Arsenal to sign one of their stars in January.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has fallen down the pecking order after his move to Everton fell through in the last transfer window.

As the utility player looks to get more minutes, ESPN have reported that the Serie A outfit are keen securing the player's services next month.

The report claims Roma Club sporting director Tiago Pinto wants a short-team loan deal, with the option to make it permanent next season.

A four-year contract has reportedly been put on the table by Roma, although there has been no progress on talks aout a possible transfer fee for the future.

Maitland-Niles has not featured for the Gunners since November and has only made a total of eight appearances in the Premier League this campaign.

The 24-year-old was also not pleased with his Deadline Day transfer and took to social media to vent his frustration.

"All I wanna do is go where I'm wanted and where I'm gonna play @arsenal," he posted on Instagram.
