The Portugal captain recently promised, in a social media post, that he will lift the lid on his future in a tell-all interview in the coming weeks, but in the interim, speculation as to where he could end up next has not died down in the slightest.
Interest in his services from Europe's elite team seems to be non-existent currently, with Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Inter Milan, and AC Milan all reportedly rejecting the opportunity to sign the Portugal international.
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid were also believed to be among the clubs who were offered his services in July, but they insisted a move for the superstar was not possible at the time, with some of their fans even brandishing banners with messages opposing the former Real Madrid striker's potential switch to the Wanda Metropolitano.
Now, though, according to The Times, Atletico have backtracked on their previous stance on signing Ronaldo, having proposed a swap deal to bring the marksman back to the Spanish capital.
Los Rojiblancos are said to be willing to send either Antoine Griezmann or Alvaro Morata to Old Trafford in exchange, and it is further claimed that Ronaldo is impressed by Diego Simeone and the LaLiga club's keenness to snap him up.
This comes after news that Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag is now willing to part ways with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, whereas, previously, he had insisted the forward was big part of his 2022/23 plans.
