Cape Town City is attempting to alter the DStv Premiership match going experience.

Here's how they did it against Orlando Pirates...

What's the story?

With #PiratesInTheCity, the Citizens put on a DStv Premiership spectacle that could set the tone for how future league matches can be approached by the other teams.

Cape Town City alongside their title sponsor FNB put on a show for over 20 000 fans at the DHL Stadium, including freebies, ticket specials, cheerleaders and more...

Let's take a closer look at Cape Town City's efforts over the weekend...

#PiratesInTheCity

Cape Town City overcame the Buccaneers in a 2-1 victory, with goals coming from Juan Camilo Zapata and Darwin Gonzalez taking them up to 7th on the DStv Premiership table.

Eric Tinkler's troops may have put on a great show for their supporters over the weekend but the overall spectacle is what made this fixture and excitable one for the fans at the stadium.

#PiratesInTheCity was the hashtag used by the club to promote to make this fixture a more extraordinary experience for match goers.

The Mother City-based club alongside FNB, aimed to not only put bums on seats, but also bring a fresh perspective on how DStv Premiership games should be hosted.

The club and FNB had a special for the FNB account holders that allowed them to buy tickets for R20 for a limited period, saving them R60.

They also designed supporters t-shirts, with the club and FNB logos on the front, which were made available at a particular spot at the DHL Stadium.

Cheerleaders were present to get the vibes going and a special half-time show saw supporters try their luck in a penalty shoot-out competition with Skyworth TV's up for grabs.

The club took to their social media pages to share a video of how #PiratesInTheCity went down:
