Despite predicting an Argentina win in his World Cup final bet, Drake still lost over R17 million.
Check it out!
What's the story?
Before the FIFA World Cup final kicked-off, Drake took to Instagram to share a $1 million (R17.6 million) bet placed on eventual winners Argentina.
Despite La Albiceleste's win, Drake's 1x2 bet still saw him lose his millions yesterday.
Football's Biggest Bromance: Hakimi & Mbappe
Let's take a closer look at why he didn't walk away with a successful bet...
Drake wins but looses big
Drake, who's an avid sports fan, lost a staggering R17.6 million bet on the FIFA World Cup final, which saw his favoured Argentina win 4-2 on penalties.
The rap mogul was set to win $2.75 million (Over R48 million) if Argentina won the game in normal time. A quick-fire brace by Kylian Mbappe in minutes '80 and '81 dashed those hopes for Drake.
Drake's 1x2 bet doesn't account for extra time, which ended 3-3 after stars Mbappe and Messi traded blows to take the game into extra time.
So close, yet so far for Toronto's rap icon, who has a long history of rooted against the eventual winners that the sports world has a running joke/superstition called the "Drake curse."

The curse has impacted teams such as Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Mbappe's PSG. Sergio Aguero was also a victim of the Drake curse back in 2019, after being pictured with the star before a Champions League Quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspurs.
In a way, even though Drake lost his bet, he somehow managed to back the winning team this time. Gods plan?
