FC Koln 3-2 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund missed the chance to move top of the Bundesliga table after going down 3-2 to FC Koln at the RheinEnergie Stadion on Saturday.

An ideal start from Dortmund when Julian Brandt snatched the opener late in the first half, but Koln rallied back through Florian Kainz and Steffen Tigges before Dejan Ljubicic made it three.

The Black and Yellow got a late consolation courtesy of an own-goal from Benno Schmitz as the host picked up their third win of the campaign.

Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 Union Berlin

League leaders Union Berlin slumped to a 2-0 defeat against a ten-man Eintracht Frankfurt and in the process got their first defeat of the season too.

Former German international and 2014 FIFA World Cup hero Mario Gotze and Jasper Lindstrom netted both goals in the first half before seeing Randal Muani dismissed late in the second period.

RB Leipzig 4-0 VfL Bochum

RB Leipzig hammered bottom-placed and the winless VfL Bochum 4-0 and surged up the league standings courtesy of this emphatic triumph.

Former Chelsea striker Timo Werner got the opener in the earlier exchanges before a penalty from Christopher Nkunku gave the host a second.

Werner then completed his brace after the break and Nkunku followed suit with his second of the day and capped off a remarkable afternoon’s work.

VfL Wolfsburg 3-2 VfB Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart’s winless start to the campaign continued when they went down 3-2 to fellow strugglers VfL Wolfsburg in a bottom-three six-point down at the Volkswagen Arena.

The visitors got off promisingly after Serhou Guirassy grabbed the opener, which lasted just a few minutes as Omar Marmoush pulled Wolfsburg level.

Maximilian Arnold then put the host further ahead, but Konstantinos Mavropanos drew Stuttgart back on level terms before Yannick Gerhardt got the winner for the home team in the dying stages.

SC Freiburg 2-1 Mainz

SC Freiburg went level on points with the table-topping Union Berlin due to a 2-1 win over Mainz 05 out at the Europa-Park Stadion.

Freiburg wasted little time to get stuck in, as Michael Gregoritsch broke the deadlock and Ghanaian-born Daniel-Koffi Kyereh added a second ahead of halftime.

Mainz pulled one back following the break when Aaron Caricol finished off a delivery from Jonathan Burkardt, but no comeback from them materialized as the host emerged victors.

Werder Bremen 5-1 Borussia Monchengladbach

Werder Bremen ended their two-match winless run in the league with a 5-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.

It was a dominant start from Bremen whereby Niclas Fullkrug struck twice within the opening 15 minutes before Marvin Ducksch and an own-goal from Ramy Bensebaini set them clear.

Gladbach reduced the deficit just shortly after the break with a finish from Marcus Thuram, but Bremen added a fifth near fulltime through Mitchell Weiser.
