One of the Premier League's top clubs is reportedly in pole position to sign Morocco star Sofyan Amrabat, who starred at the FIFA World Cup.

The 26-year-old played a key role in the Atlas Lions' historic run to the semi-finals, where they lost to defending champions France on Wednesday night.

The Fiorentina midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks, including Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

However, transfer journalist Di Marzio has revealed that the player's agents are trying to push the midfielder to join Liverpool, who have been on the look out for a new midfielder.

"He has all the characteristics he needs to play under Anonio Conte. But at the moment they are very happy with Bentancur, and he plays in the same position. But I think Amrabat’s agency, Stellar, is going to make an attempt to bring him to Liverpool in the Premier League," Di Marzio told Soccer News.

"Everyone sees something in that, it would be the agency’s dream as well as that of the player in question. And Klopp wants to capture a new central midfielder… There have been talks but no official moves yet.

When asked about being linked with the the likes of Atletico and Barcelona last week, Amrabat told Marca,  “I’m proud to be linked to top clubs like Barcelona and Atlético. But I’m a Fiorentina player, I respect the club and I’ve a great relationship with the president.

"[Diego] Simeone? We have a good coach at Fiorentina too but… yes, I like El Cholo's [ Simeone's] style [of play]”
