With the club light on attacking options after Cristiano Ronaldo's departure, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has given an update on their search for a new striker.

Marcus Rashford has been in fine form for the Red Devils this season, with the Englishman finding the back of the net 11 times for United as they look to secure a UEFA Champions League spot.

Although he is not considered an out-and-out striker, the Manchester native has been responsible for many of his side's goals following Ronaldo's exit in November 2022.

The Portuguese superstar and United mutually agreed to terminate his contract during the 2022 FIFA World Cup hiatus, and after United's failing to capture Dutch star Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven, a lot of the burden to find the back of the net has been placed on Rashford.

While Ten Hag has admitted there is a need for the club to sign another attacker, he does not want the record Premier League champions to break the bank for the wrong player.

"We have a good team when all the players are available. But with many games coming up, I think there is a need [for a striker]," the 52-year-old said, as per 90min.

"You need one who can have an impact, otherwise you are just burning money."

Guardiola To Leave City Before Contract Ends?

A striker who is at Ten Hag's disposal is Anthony Martial, and given his relative quiet performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, the Dutchman was quizzed about the France international's latest display.

"He didn't play for a long time and probably this [Wolves] wasn't his game," the manager added.

"I'm really happy with his performances across many games. If you see the minutes he's played and the impact he's had so far, it's really huge."
