PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford before the start of the current season, but the club opted to sign Antony from Ajax.
However, the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo has left the Red Devils a little light in the striker's department and Erik ten Hag has already confirmed he wants to improve the squad next month.

The Sun have reported that the Premier League giants have now opened talks with PSV about signing the Dutch forward in the January transfer window.
Ten Hag believes that Gakpo's arrival would significantly boost their hopes of finishing in the top four this season due to 'hunger' and 'aggression'.
The English Publication reported that United instigated talks this past week after learning about PSV's financial problems, meaning the Dutch club would be open to the sale for no less than £50million.
After registering an impressive 15 goals and 18 assists in the first half of the season for Ruud van Nistlerooy's side, Gakpo strengthened his reputation by netting three goals at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Van Nistlerooy also revealed last week that the Netherlands international could leave in next month's transfer window, but prefers at the end of the season.
"If I have the choice, I prefer the summer, but it can also be now," Van Nistelrooy told Voetbal International.
