The pitch invader who jumped on Lionel Messi before wrapping his legs around the Paris Saint-Germain superstar in a recent UEFA Champions League encounter has received his punishment for his actions.

Barca Chief: A Deal For Messi Is Possible

According to The Jerusalem Post, the man who made his way on to the field during PSG's win over Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League in Israel earlier this month will not be able to attend another game the team plays.

It was reported that an indictment was filed by Israel police this week after the fan sprinted towards the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner before jumping on him, and was immediately questioned after the incident.

The story suggests that the fan will not be charged nor convicted, although he has received punishment from Maccabi Haifa, who said in a statement that the supporter is not recognised as a fan and will not be allowed to attend another game featuring the club.

Haifa, it is said, received a hefty ban for the incident and are also reportedly preparing to file a lawsuit against the individual, who entered the field of play around the 80-minute mark.

A spokesperson for the Israel police, meanwhile said: "Israel Police takes this type of offence very seriously and will continue to use all the tools at its disposal to bring those who commit sports-related offences to justice."

Messi was subjected to similar incidents during the recently passed international break with Argentina, with one supporter requesting the 35-year-old to sign his back before security tackled him to the ground.

Messi 'To Leave PSG', Will Only Return To Barca On One Condition

Being among the game's greatest players of all time, the ex-Barcelona captain faces the chance of these situations occurring particularly when he is playing away from home, with Cristiano Ronaldo another to regularly experience this sort of fanfare.
