According to Anton Meana on Cadena SER, the Catalan giants have been handed the opportunity to sign Spanish midfielder Marco Asensio at the end of the campaign.
The left-footer's deal in Madrid expires at the end of the season amid reports he recently rejected Los Blancos' latest offer of an extension.
Asensio is reportedly seeking a higher annual salary in the Spanish capital, with the club said to be unwilling to meet his demands.
The journalist claims that Asensio's agent, high-profile player representative Jorge Mendes, has subsequently given Barcelona the chance to land his client's signature.
Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are also linked with the three-time UEFA Champions League winner, who has made 266 appearances for the Madrid club since his debut.
Asensio, 27, has enjoyed a fruitful season for Real, contributing to 11 goals in 31 matches across all competitions so far.
Barcelona could be forced to explore more free-agent options amid their financial issues, as they did last year when they signed Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen and Marcos Alonso.
